One / Ones
- ONE and ONES are pronouns that we use to substitute a countable noun that has already been mentioned in a conversation.
We usually find them after an adjective:
– My favourite car is the black one.
– Leave my old glasses on the table. I will wear the new ones.
After “the”:
– Do you see these girls? My sister is the one on the left.
– Mark and John were the ones wearing a disguise at the party.
After “which” in questions to ask for preference:
– You have three options. Which one do you prefer?
