Just
- The adverb JUST is very common in English and has more than one use and meaning in English. Just as a TIME EXPRESSION:
– I am just going to go home.
*As an adverb of time, it’s very commonly used with the present perfect and past perfect.
In this case, we are talking about something that happened only a few minutes before the moment of speaking:
– I have just got home.
– They had just arrived when I left.
Just to give EMPHASIS to something:
– Just do your homework now.
Just as a synonym of the following words:
– SIMPLY: It’s just not right.
– ABSOLUTELY: The dinner was just perfect.
– ONLY: The tickets for the concert were just 10 dollars.
– EXACTLY: You look just like your mum.
