Norah Jones won many awards at the 45th GRAMMY Awards in 2002, including Best New Artist, Album Of The Year for Come Away With Me and Record Of The Year. That same year, she made her GRAMMY stage debut with a performance of Don’t Know Why, which we are giving to you in this week’s excercise.

Past simple – negative
- We use the PAST SIMPLE NEGATIVE to talk about actions in the past. The structure is SUBJECT+DID+NOT/N’T+BASIC VERB.
“Randy didn’t play softball in college.”
“Mr. Bart didn’t teach his class well.”
“You did not prepare the documents I needed.”
“I did not sleep well last night.”
“We didn’t read that book in high school.”
“The workers didn’t come last Monday.” - “…I didn’t come”
We often use the full “not” (instead of “-n’t”) in this case to reject or deny an idea someone presents:
A: “You played badly in the game today.”
B: “I did not play badly!”
When we emphasize not, we make the listener focus on its role in the sentence.
This is the 3rd time in the week that ABA puts this song in my weeklygoal .
