To celebrate back to school and the beginning of Fall, we have the song We Are Going to be Friends by the Grammy award-winning alternative rock duo, The White Stripes. The song was written to reflect the nostalgia of childhood and making new friends at school. It has been used on several movie and TV show soundtracks. Enjoy!

Be going to / Gonna
- We use BE GOING TO to express future plans or predictions. For example:
- – I’m going to be in London for two weeks (future plans).
- – It’s going to rain this afternoon (prediction).
- Subject + To Be + going to + verb + object.
- To form the negative, we have to use NOT after to be (or its contracted form). For example:
- – I’m not going to go to his birthday party.
- – He is not going to have dinner with us tomorrow.
- Subject + To Be + NOT + going to + verb + object.
- To ask questions, we simple move the verb to be before the subject. For example:
- – Are you going to visit the British Museum when you go to London?
- – Is she going to have time to finish everything she has planned?
- To be + subject + going to + verb + object.
In informal slang, “going to” can be shortened to “gonna”.

Thanks Robin, it’s my first year without restarting school in September and after that music I regret a little..
I believe that was a song especially for me. The singer was good to understand the music wasn’t too loud and the text made sense to me.
Thank you, Robin, funny and enthusiastic activity! Is this a popular song between the children in The USA? Let me know! Have a great day!
