Great versions! Today we propose a great oldie ballad, but performed by new musicians. The well known song Nights in White Satin, originally written and played by the British band The Moody Blues, is covered by the novel sister duo Larkin Poe in this shorter and beautiful version.
Larkin Poe is a Nashville, Tennessee, duo formed by sisters Rebecca and Megan Lovell. Their band plays roots rock, a music that looks back to rock’s origins in folk, blues and country music. The band performed at the 2014 and 2016 Glastonbury Festival, and were voted “Best Discovery of Glastonbury 2014.”
The Nights in White Satin lyrics are about yearning for a loved one from a distance. The words also imply that it is unrequited love: “Letters I’ve written, never meaning to send..” and “Just what I’m going through they can’t understand.” A beautiful and moving love song. Enjoy!
