Today we propose a great jazzy song by Van Morrison, the famous Northern Irish musician and singer-songwriter. He is known as The Belfast Lion by his fans and is distinguished by his versatile musical style, which mixes soul, jazz, swing, rock, folk and rhythm and blues.
The song Moondance was released in 1970 in the album with the same name, and is considered to be one of the songs that made Van Morrison’s music accessible to popular tastes. The sophisticated jazzy sound of Moondance is a pleasure to listen to and the lyrics are quite easy to follow. It’s a ballad that invites the loved one for more romance, since it is “marvelous night for a moondance…”. A great song for a romantic dance in the Fall, do you agree?

Modal Verb Can / Can’t
- CAN is a modal verb that we use to express ability, possibility and permission in the present tense. For example:
- – She can speak English fluently. (Ability)
- – John and you can come anytime you want. (Possibility)
- – Can I go to Mary’s party on Saturday? (Permission)
- Like all modal verbs, can doesn’t need an auxiliary to form the NEGATIVE or INTERROGATIVE.
- To form the negative we just need to add NOT after can (or its contracted form CAN’T). For example:
- – They can not play guitar.
- – They can’t play guitar.
- Subject + can not / can’t + verb + object
- To create interrogatives, we just need to move the verb CAN before the subject. For example:
- – Can we stay with you today?
- – Can’t they join us for lunch?
- Can + subject + verb + object?
