Improve your listening and writing skills by filling in the blanks in the song lyrics. These activities are designed for Beginners and Intermediates so that they can learn new vocabulary related to a specific topic in a quick and fun way.
The exercise we propose today is based on another rock classic from the 70’s: Epitaph by the progressive rock band King Crimson.
The band continues to exist today, though it has changed formation many times and the only constant member is Robert Fripp, considered its leader.
The lyrics of Epitaph are a reflection about the fears in society at that time, in particular fear of a nuclear apocalypse, since the “fate of all mankind is in the hands of fools“. The meaning is dark but the song is a truly beautiful piece, both musically and poetically.
The image we show here comes from the well known cover of the band’s debut album, In the Court of the Crimson King, where the song Epitaph appears.

Future Continuous
- We use the FUTURE CONTINUOUS to express that something will be in process at a specific time in the future. For example:
- – Tomorrow I’ll be crying.
- – I will be sleeping when you get home.
- – You will be visiting us during the summer holidays.
- The structure is: subject + will be + verb-ing (+ object).
- To form the negative, we simply use the negative form of will. For example:
- – They won’t be eating at my restaurant tonight.
- The structure is: subject + won’t be + verb-ing (+ object).
- To ask is something will be happening at some time in the future, we move will before the subject of the sentence. For example:
- – Will she be staying at your place tonight?
- The structure is: Will + subject + be + verb-ing (+ object)?
