The singer herself explains in her concert that the song was popular before she was born, but that she loves it and so plays it. You can hear her saying this before she starts singing.
Taylor Swift, born in 1989, has sold over 200 million records worldwide and has received ten Grammy awards. She is one of the best selling music artists of all times. Young and already very successful, Taylor Swift promises a long and fruitful career.
The song Bette Davis Eyes was a hit in 1981, performed by the American singer Kim Carnes, and was top of the music charts for months. The lyrics refer to the distinctive eyes of actress Bette Davis, who was famous in classic films during the middle of the 20th Century. The song describes the effects that a lady with similar eyes has on men: attracting them strongly but playing with them and making them feel insecure. Great new vocabulary too!
