The interviewer isn’t really asking about your hobbies. Instead, they want to know if you’re a good choice for the company.
Describe your current job and past work experience. Tell the interviewer how your experience will be useful to their company. You can also talk about your future career goals, but try to connect them to the job you’re applying for.
2. What is your greatest weakness?
If you have to talk about your weaknesses, make sure you do it right!
Mention something that isn’t related to the job you want. For example, if you’re applying to be an accountant, you could say that you don’t like public speaking—it’s probably not needed for the job.
You could also discuss a skill you’ve improved. If you’re a forgetful person, you could talk about how you always take detailed notes and put everything in your calendar.
3. Why do you want to leave your current job?
Be careful with this question! If you talk about your terrible boss or lazy co-workers, you’ll just look unprofessional.
Rather than being negative, you could say that you’re looking for new challenges and opportunities. This is a good chance for you to tell the interviewer more about why you want to work for their company.
4. Why should we hire you?
Your answer to this one shouldn’t be too general; saying “I’m a hard worker” doesn’t make you appear interesting or different from other applicants.
Make sure to research the company: Review the job advertisement and check the website to really understand their business. Next, think of any qualities you have that match what they’re looking for. Doing this before your interview will help you prepare for that big question!
