Grammar
Imperatives (negative form)
We use negative imperatives to instruct or command others not to do a specific action.
To make the negative imperative, we place do, then not, followed by the basic verb.
We often use the contraction form, don’t, in this construction. Do not is more formal, and we can see it on signs and public notices:
Don’t play in the street!
Don’t eat lunch without me.
Do not enter (on a sign).
Sometimes we place you between don’t and the verb in informal contexts. We use this construction to warn or threaten:
Don’t you dare!
Don’t you come any closer!
Nice. But for the webmaster, please, fix the play dashboard, it’s very hard to fill out the lyrics and please make the DONE button smaller. It’s terrible how easy is to make a mistake and leave the exercise. Thanks
Thanks for the feedback, Robin. It’s possible to hide the audio player. Tap or click on the “x” at the right.
