“In a world where you can be anything, be kind.”
Like most people, you probably agree that the world needs more kindness.
Well, luckily, a day was created to encourage people to do random good deeds!
A Day of Kindness
National Random Acts of Kindness Day happens every year on February 17. On this day, you should do nice things for others, for your community, for the environment, or even for yourself. The goal is to make the world a more loving place.
Kind Ideas
Not sure what to do for your first random act of kindness? Take a look at these ideas to get started. And remember: Even small acts can make a difference!
Pick up litter
Spend some time picking up litter in your community. The Earth will thank you, your neighbours will appreciate it, and you’ll feel great about helping to keep your city clean.
Donate to a shelter
Do you have some blankets or shoes you don’t use anymore? Maybe you’ve got a bit of extra money. Think about donating to a shelter in your area—you’ll really be helping people in need.
Leave positive notes
Get a package of sticky notes and write positive messages on them. You can leave them in different places like a bus stop, a car window, or around your school or office. Your happy notes will brighten someone’s day!
Offer someone your seat on the bus
Okay, you’re tired and you really want to sit down when you get on the bus, but is there someone who needs that seat more than you? If so, give it to them and make them smile!
Pay It Forward
Have you ever heard of paying it forward? It’s a simple way to spread kindness: If someone does something nice for you, you should do something thoughtful for another person. Then they need to do a good deed for yet another person, and so on. Try it next time someone is kind to you!
Are You Ready?
Now it’s your turn! What will your first random act of kindness be?
